I write free-lance poems meaning when I get upset about something or whatever I write how I feel. Do you do that to what how many poems did you write in one day?
i believe expressing yourself through poetry is fantastic.
the more confusing you make it, the more intelligent people you’ll come across.
yes, i do the same thing; but i tend to also put my thoughts to my stories as well as my poems.
how many poems? in the past i’ve written about 30 poems in a day.
it was a long day. haha.

l was thinking of writing a story and l was just wondering how l would go about lt or whether they make alot of money doing lt
The average price a magazine or anthology pays for short stories is less than 50 bucks. In many cases, it’s around five bucks plus a few copies of the book or magazine. The quality of the writing doesnt matter really. That’s what they pay unless your name is Stephen King. YOu may find out it costs you more to sell the story than you make on it. That is generally what happens. Pax – C

Just legitimate work ….working for someone who has a business, not starting one of your own. I don’t want to sell or solicit or carry inventory.
Even the free lance writing sites and typing sites have hidden monthly membership fees.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks BettyAnne
Yes, but you have to work, I mean you have to have a skill or talent; no, if you’re talking about clicking buttons, taking surveys, etc.
Look on craigslist.org or google for freelance sites based on your skill (like writing, web design, clerical, etc.). If you don’t have a skill, develop one.
Work hard, expect to get a few projects but not every time you submit, and expect to make reasonable money for a certain amount of effort.
Click on any of the other suggestions here at your own risk. Those sites make their OWN money by selling your information to lists who want them for god-knows-what. Your information winds up…wherever. Identity theft is way, way up and everybody wonders why…I don’t wonder. People throw their information every which way in a desperate attempt to make money for not really doing anything.
Sorry to be harsh, and I don’t mean you, necessarily! Just warning you, and trying to give you a few suggestions that won’t wind up biting you in the behind eventually. Good luck!

I’m educated, but my major had nothing to do with journaling. I’m not picky about the type of writing; I can do it all: technical, fiction (most genres), biographical, etc. Also, as long as my employer is reputable, I wouldn’t care if I worked for a newspaper, magazine, a television station (I’ve got looks, too), or if I found free-lance jobs.
All of that said, which type of writing would be the easiest (I know it’s not "easy") to break into, and what would be my first few steps? Any serious suggestions?
All of the above is true. Send in everything you can to magazines, periodicals. Buy a good Writer’s Submission Guidelines book at the bookstore and start working your way through the publishers that look good to you. Find publishers that typically put out books similar to your ideas for one. I don’t know anything about nonfiction freelance writing, but I have heard it’s very easy to get into. Technical writing, etc. I had a friend who claims it’s not difficult to break into. Why don’t you check into Writer’s Workshops? They’re listed on the web and they’re all over the place. You can sometimes make an appointment (as a reward for early registration) with publishers and agents who will be there. Nothing like face-to-face! Good luck. You sound very talented. (I highly recommend getting into the field…)

I know some people who have worked as music journalists on the side, and have received free music from reps. to do reviews for.
I have just started getting into music journalism is a side project through my college paper-and wanted to try to expand my material with doing more free-lance work possibly with more reference material-
Does anyone have any suggestions to how to get free material? How does free-lance journalism usually work with things like this.
Thanks.
Probably the way to start is to do the writing first. You’ve already got a start with the college paper. Package up some clippings and talk to other media outlets. Then, you can contact some music labels to see about their mailing lists of review copies. Just don’t do it too soon — the companies will want some proof that you are legit.
