I’m contemplating writing a travel book for first time visitors to Walt Disney World.?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I realize that there are many of these types of books already but I spend a lot of time there, love the place, go for free, and have an insiders spec. What sections and details would you like to see in a book about D world. What can you think of that i could use to make my book different than everything else sitting on the shelf.

I am a huge Disney fan too and my husband and I just went in January as our 3rd trip. What I would do is buy the books that are out there now and read them over and make notes on each one and go from there.

Alot of the books out there are the same old fluff n stuff. Nothing new and truly informative. At least not in my opinion.

Good luck with you book. Keep in touch and let me know when I can buy a copy!

Do you know some online magazines that pay for work from freelance writers if the work is good? ?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I know The Escapist does. Are there any more like that? Preferably with a sense of humour?

There are many different options for someone trying to break into the writing business. These websites could help.

Oboulo.com is a publicly authored, publicly accessible database covering a wide array of topics. Each time you publish a paper, article, presentation etc. on the website, you will receive $15.00 in royalties. Create an account and enter ambassador # 9590ba to earn $15 per published article.

After connecting to the site, you will be asked to enter an ambassador number. By entering ambassador# 9590ba you’ll receive $15 per document published.

This is a good place to start to get your name out there and some published articles under your belt.

Next, go to the Associated Content website and sign up as a writer. Submit as many articles as you can. The payment varies, but they are generous.

Good luck!

Looking for a freelance proofreader?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I am a freelance proofreader in the process of building my resume and looking for jobs. I love fiction and would like to proofread books. I am just starting my career and at this time am willing to proofread a job at no charge if in return I can add your name and work to my resume. As I am not interested in a career in writing, I will not plagiarize your work or share it with anyone else. If you are interested, or know of someone who might be, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.

it seems all to insecure and unsafe. no.

Wanting to Study Journalism?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I am interested in studying Journalism through correspondence. I am however a little confused as most offer the course as Freelance Journalism. What is the difference between just Journalism and Freelance? Is a Freelance Journalist less qualified than a Journalists? Also I realize that this career choice would most likely not make me rich, but I love to write and have decided it is time to do something I enjoy. Any advice about this career choice would be very much appreciated.

Good for you! I have a degree in journalism, and I love writing too!

Glad you realize it won’t make you rich, but it can be very rewarding nonethless.

There is not much difference between journalism and freelance, but most journalists don’t have a nationally syndicated column or assignment so they work freelance for whatever publication needs them. Freelancers are no less qualified than regular journalists.

Best of luck 2 U!

Can anyone help me to get a freelance job?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I am 24 years old.I am good in english and computer. i am doing a job in dhaka,Bangladesh. I am interested to do some free lance job for any foreign company. can any one help me find a free lance job? I have tried some websites but thay want me to registry and ask for money. It will be great if any of you can help me.

Maybe this is a crazy question, but why don’t you just work for yourself?

The Internet is International and the opportunities to take part in the Digital Information Revolution are endless. It’s over a Billion Dollar market and the barrier’s to entry are not even worth considering.

I got my start by downloading free software and buying a kit of resources to modify for less than 10 bucks. I can now sell my product as many times as I want to or even give others the right to sell it for a fee they pay me.

Let me know if I can help.

Is freelance work (media/entertainment industry) considered as personal services income (PSI)?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I’m a TV assistant editor and occasionally do freelance casual work for various production companies and get paid via ABN invoicing. Does this qualify as personal services income (PSI)?

I’m doing my tax return and need some advice on this area. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Income is personal services income if it is mainly a reward for an individual’s personal efforts or skills. This applies regardless of whether the income is received directly by the individual or is received by a company, trust or partnership (personal services entity).

Do I have to pay a self-employment tax throughout the year or just when I do the rest of my taxes?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I just got a freelance editing job, and am told I’ll have to fill out a 1099. I’ve been trying to read up on self-employment tax, but can’t seem to get a straight answer. Do I have to send money into the government throughout the year, or can I just save 15% of it and then send it in April when I do the rest of my taxes and it looks like I owe something? Thanks!

First off, the payer fills out the 1099. You need to send in 15.3% of your net earnings and whatever your estimated income tax on those earnings are every quarter the dates are 4/15, 7/15, 10/15, 1/15. Enclose a check with a completed IRS Form 1040ES. If you have any expenses that apply, you may deduct those from the payments you’ve received.

Career advice – advertising copywriter?

February 28th, 2010 . by admin

I want to get into advertisement copywriting. I am doing a creative writing course at the moment and am really keen to know what i need to put into a portfolio in order to become an advertising copywriter. Are there any other jobs i could start out doing which would help me onto the career ladder? And help would be appreciated!
I meant any help would be appreciated, sorry!
I knew i’d got dodgy businesses trying to get me to hand over my bank details!!! I just want genuine advice!!

hey i wanted to be one too but i don’t think i have the knack for it and it takes ages to get a job like that but maybe you’re just mroe determined to work your butt off :)
I think any written work you are proud of is worth going in there, any drafts of advertisments, even just making them up it would show you have the initative and motivation to create an advertisment.
Previous college work and so on can always help (not crappy stuff like a short story etc that doesn’t help)
good luck! and all the best xxxx
